What is the typical Lithuanian cuisine?
Lithuanian cuisine is characteristic of cold regions of Europe, where the body needs calories first thing in the morning. Therefore, in Lithuania, nutritious breakfasts and lunches are eaten, and light dinners. It is a cuisine for hard-working people, so it contains caloric dishes of potatoes, meat and dairy products. Lithuanian cuisine recipes were influenced by both European cuisine, especially from neighboring countries, and Turkish cuisine, from which spices were drawn. Among the best delicacies of Lithuanian cuisine are Cepelinai (Zeppelin Dumplings), or oblong dumplings with meat, types of boiled, fried or baked dumplings, cold cuts or potato casseroles.
