How to make Knedlíky (Czech Dumplings) step by step guide
Crumble the yeast into a glass, sprinkle with sugar and pour in a little warm milk. Mix the whole thing well and set aside to rise. Sift the flour into a larger bowl. Add salt, oil, eggs and finely chopped kaiser. Add the risen yeast and knead the dough from the whole, the dough should be smooth and elastic, coming away from your hands. Sprinkle the dough with flour and cover it with a tetan napkin or a cloth and leave it to rise for 60 minutes. After the rising time, knead the dough a while more, divide it into 4 parts. From each piece, form a roll about the diameter of a baguette. We set the formed dumplings aside to rise for 15 minutes. In the meantime, boil salted water in a larger pot. Put the risen pieces of dough into the boiling water and cook for 5 minutes on each side. We cook under the lid. Remove the cooked dumplings to a board and cut into 2-3 centimeter slices with a sharp knife or thread. We can serve the finished dumplings with goulash or jam. As one likes.
