What is the typical Finish cuisine?
Finnish dishes were created in a region with a harsh climate, where people lived very modestly. Therefore, dishes were created mainly from milk and its products, rye, forest fruits, as well as fish and meat. Finnish cuisine is one of the mild in taste, as spices were scarcely available there. The most popular traditional Finnish dishes are Karelian dumplings, which are open dumplings filled with potato puree. Similar dumplings with berry jam are eaten sweet. Cheese bread, a thin cheese made from milk, is also a typical Finnish dish, and is served cold or hot. For lunch, nutritious soups or meat dishes with potatoes are eaten.
